Early Sports Culture of the College

In the early years of Government College Dharamshala, Cricket and Football were the most popular sports among students. During that time, the college faced challenges due to the lack of adequate playground facilities.

The college initially had only a single playground of uncertain dimensions. However, significant progress was made in 1959, when the present college stadium was constructed largely through Shramdan (voluntary community labor).

This effort was led by Shri S. Padmanabhan, who was then a senior lecturer and later became principal of the college. The initiative was supported by Prof. P. Sharma, who supervised the Shramdan efforts.
